Saskatoon Public School Division Online Acceptable Policy:
 
From the SPSD's Administrative Procedures Manual - AP 140: Computer/Online Services Responsible Use  & AP 141: Social Media and Online Posting (https://www.spsd.sk.ca/division/adminproceduresmanual/Pages/default.aspx), All Teachers/ Teacher Candidates of the Saskatoon Public School Division must:
  • Ensure that they are using the network(s) appropriately.
  • Ensure that activities used in the online format(s) are appropriate for the users day-to-day work.
  • Ensure that there are no conflicts with the SPSD's board policies and/or procedures.
  • Ensure that there is consultation with Saskatoon Public Schools' Education Technology/Information Technology for best practices.
  • Ensure that there is no illegal or crime use.
  • Ensure that there no use of any hardware, software, or services that may pose risk to any SPSD's rules, staff, or students.
  • Ensure that there is no promotion of drugs and/or alcohol.
  • Ensure that there is no forwarding or redirecting division files or emails to a third party not affiliated with the SPSD.
  • Ensure that there is no harassment of any kind.
  • Ensure that there are no threats or criticisms to any students, parents, staff, colleagues, or administrator.
  • Ensure that any online activity does not interfere with learning environment.
  • Ensure that proper respect for the laws governing copyright.
 
ANY VIOLATIONS OF THESE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES MAY LEAD TO SUSPENSION,EXPLUSION, OR TERMINATION.

ECUR 379 DAY 1

Day 1: Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 was the first class of ECUR 379. We learned about a variety of different ways help keep students engaged in different types of lessons which could be used in many different types of classes. One way to keep a student engaged was the "Monkey See, Monkey do" technique. When the teacher asks the students to do something such as a silent reading period, quick write, or simply telling them about their weekend, as the teacher of the classroom, the teacher should whatever they asked the students to do. While listening about this technique, it brought up a memory of when I was in high school. When we were asked to read silently every Tuesday, some of the teachers would read, and the class was usually quiet. But when a teacher would not read, the class was not quiet.
